Manson's combat? The mechanical Animals (Title of his album out in October 98) or if you prefer the brainless idiots who follow fashions, become couch potatoes, flee reality by submitting themselves to drugs ("drugs can be used to creative or recreative goals but nether should they be used to control or destroy people's lives"). Those who behave that way and goof around without any goal. We recognize a typical Nietzschean elitist notion which can disturb but Manson replies that "I have agreed with the idea that intelligence is the only valuable criteria to define leaders and people who take decisions. No one chooses his sex or race but anyone who can excel and improve his soul thanks to culture and studying". Manson assumes his provocations but, according to him, there are not free. He tears off Bibles in order to denounce the misinterpretation and the way it is used. Manson a philosopher? That's a good joke ! He who shows off with his girlfriend Rose Mc Gowan half-naked in Hollywood cocktails ! Here too, Manson reacts : "I include myself in this Circus ! Medias love to sell me in the same way as Models. America needs to create characters so as to enable people to identify to them. That doesn't seem so stupid for a person in quest of stardom. "I believe it is useful that my ideas become more and more current, that more and more people expose themselves to these ideas because the clichés they are confronted to everyday are far less stimulating and worth it for the soul". One could add "disturbing" since Manson loves playing with a morbid imagery ready to destabilize young souls.
The latter adds : "I feel responsible for inspiring my public and I think he should feel responsible for acting intelligently. If you want to appreciate art, you have to know how to drag and interpret in your way the messages without believing everything you hear." This taste for everything that disturbs will get him the perfect outfit of the scapegoat the media needed when the Littleton slaughter occurred. Several days after, he will denounce the "blindness of the medias who have unfairly and without any proof pointed out the disk industry and the so-called gothics as scapegoats, while hoping that this responsibility won't cause anymore discrimination towards different kinds and that this tragedy was only caused by ignorance, hatred and the fact that it is easy to buy guns in the USA". What is funny is to notice how memory remembers more easily the countless rumors on Manson (the most famous one? Marilyn is supposed to have been taken off several ribs in order to blowjob himself).
