Portrait Of An American Family

First attack of Marilyn Manson against the well-thinking America.
This album very oriented towards pedophilia, murders, rapes, incest and anti-religion for the décor is more rock than industrial since the Indus sounds are rather discreet and leave space for the guitars. All of this is a continuity of rather outrageous songs, pretty aggressive.

This album is not as great as Antichrist Superstar will be but it already shows that Marilyn Manson shouldn't be made a fun of. The song Get Your Gunn can be heard in the movie Strange Days but does not appear on the original motion soundtrack.

Commentary of a fan :

Their first album made with the help of Trent Reznor of the Nine Inch Nails is already a BOMB. In a spirit very far from the albums they will compose later on, it is mainly oriented Heavy metal but Manson's gift is still alive and kicking. Guitar riffs that kill Manson's Rahhh voice still extraordinary. A particular noise that we manage to enjoy if one leaves him a go. Manson is like the first cigarette : we always spit on it the first time then we enjoy it…A pure BOMB.
