Antichrist Superstar
The birth of Manson the antichrist! An album very gloomy and deeply nihilistic; it is not really aimed to everybody.
Industrial with gothic, the songs are a mix of ultra-violence (Irresponsible Hate Anthem, 1996, The reflecting God…) and desperate sweetness (The minute of decay, Man that you fear…) structured in 3 main cycles, this nihilistic introspection deals with numerous themes (death, suicide, religion, medias, fascism) has the same importance in Manson's career that The Downward Spiral in Nine Inch Nails's.
This record that is not really easy to listen to can either play a therapeutic role and get you out of deep sorrow or drown you in it. Anyway, I consider it as one of the masterpieces of industrial hard rock.

Wonderful, that's it ! It is impossible to quote one song or another to comment them, you'd have to quote them all !!! It also is a wonder graphically speaking (CD very gloomy). Tracks such as "1996" or "Beautiful People" that turn your stomach upside down ; "Minute of decay" (entirely written by Marilyn Manson) or "Man that you fear" take us deep into the dark arcane of ecstasy (just listen to it with headphones : voices come from everywhere, from the side, from behind, simply splendid!). The album that lifts Marilyn to the rank of a genius with, sometimes little quotes of Nine Inch Nails (such as in "Tourniquet")……Reznor production of course.
