Origin of the name : Marilyn Monroe + Charles Manson Physical description : Name & First Name : Brian Hugh Warner Date of birth : January 5th 1969 Ohio Colour of eyes : green Colour of hair : brown Weight : 135 lbs Height : 6' 1" Half a man, half a woman, half angel, half devil, Marilyn Manson doesn't leave anyone indifferent. Hatred by some people, detested by others, this American hard-rock group fund of big basic provocation has therefore seduced a crowd more and more numerous as time goes by. - As a child, he discovers his grandfather's pornographic magazines and sometimes hears him wankering himself ; so he switched on his electric train so as not to hear his screams, this is the origin of the title "kinderfield" on the album antichrist superstar. - Soon after, he is attacked at home by a burglar who tries to suffocate him with his pillow. - His parents place him in a Christian school were is being taught about apocalypse, which scares him to death. - After being sacked from public school, he is put in a school were he is rather coldly welcome. - He defends himself with his lunchbox (see Portrait of an American family) next comes the sentence "next mother fucker gonna get my metal" with a double meaning because it can both mean the metal out of which the lunchbox is made or the music. First a journalist and musical critic he decides to create a group in 1989 with Daisy Berkowitz which will be called "Marilyn Manson and the spooky kids". 1991 : the name of the group is shortened : Marilyn Manson (sounds much better doesn't it?) 1993 : Madonna (the real one) notices him and offers him a contract but Manson prefers Reznor (hopefully) - He is noticed by Trent Reznor of Nine inch nails who gives a chance to this new group full of talent : NIN's first parts of concerts are granted to Manson. - He then signs on Trent Reznor's label "nothing interscope records" also known as "nothing". 1994 : Portrait of an American family is out at the same moment as the single "get your gun", first extract of the album. Then the album's success offers him the opportunity to tour the USA. 1995 : Smells Like Children is out, it is composed of remixes of "dope hat" among others. The album is not vital even if some wicked are……… odd. 1996 : Antichrist superstar is out. International and planetary success the group's consecration which enables them to go on a world from which is excerpted the video "dead to the world". 1998 : Mechanicals animals is out. Marilyn Manson bawls Trent Reznor out. A change in the guitar player is operated, as well as tone and also a change in Manson's look who becomes Omega and John5 arrives in the band. (He didn't record the album but was on the tour which is on the video "God is in tv") 1999 : The live album "The last tour on earth" is out 2000 : Manson and Reznor join again for "Holywood" out on November 14th. A new change of appearance, Omega becomes Mercury, that is to say the following of Antichrist. The album goes on with the theme begun with Antichrist Superstar (web surfers have access to his autopsy!) in the mean time, Manson creates his own label "posthuman records" and signs up with "Godhead", gothic group which is in the first part of "Hollywood" concerts accompanied by "Disturbed". "Hollywood" also finds its inspiration in the April 1999 Littleton slaughter when two students armed with shotguns and other war guns started to kill their schoolmates. Manson was unfairly accused of influencing this action (for more details, go to the "rumours, anecdotes" section). Now then, if you think differently and tell yourself "don't go to Littleton" or more generally in the United States. The tour is performed on sold-out concerts and has an enormous success worldwide……….where will it stop? 2005: - On August, Marilyn Manson picked up the Icon Award at tonight's Kerrang! Awards. - And he has announced that he is now going to concentrate his efforts into producing short films, which will be released through his official website. Creating his own genre for his work, ‘Horripilation’, Manson described it saying: “It's horrifying, and it's depilatory. It will horrify the hair off of your legs." The first set of films will be ‘Phantasmagoria: The Visions of Lewis Caroll’. - Manson makes an appearance in a horror film : ‘Rise’ with Lucy Liu. |
