He doesn't really have a nickname since his stage name is composed of his name (John or John Lowery).
He is the last to join the group, he replaces Zim-Zum. He left his former group Two to join Marilyn Manson after the recording of Mechanical Animals. He started playing the guitar at the age of 6 and from 1989 he worked as a guitarist in a studio with bands such as Red Square Black, Night Rangers, Ozzy Osbourne, KD Lang, Pepperland, Leah Andreone and David Lee Roth. In 1996, he was chosen among 2000 other guitar players to accompany the KD Lang World Tour. The guitars he uses are Ibanez GAX Series and a Laney VH100R. On the tape "god is in the TV" we can see him perform on Marilyn Manson something that is generally Twiggy's amusement or run because Manson had set fire bellow his shoes !
Last April 1st 2004, John 5 has parted ways with Marilyn Manson to pursue other opportunities. The versatile guitarist/songwriter, also known for his work with KD Lang, David Lee Roth and Rob Halford, has just completed a solo album which is scheduled for release in the fall and is writing with several multi-platinum artists for their upcoming albums. The 12 song instrumental album, currently titled, "Vertigo" not only showcases John's creativity and versatility as a player but also features special guests to be revealed in the coming weeks.
As well as releasing Vertigo, John has begun working in a new band called ‘Loser’.
